Lessons from Elementary School
When I was in fourth grade, we took a lot of field trips. We went to the zoo, museum and planetarium, and I think we might have even gone to the Reitz Home, among other places.
One time, when our school bus pulled into the parking lot, everyone in the bus started to boo. It was loud, too. Our teachers were irate. So much so, that the Assistant Principal/gym teacher/art teacher came into class the next day and chewed us out for a good 15 minutes. And Mr. Wilhelm was a very intimidating guy. He coached wrestling at one of the high schools. I don’t remember everything he said, but I do remember him saying in a very loud, stern voice that “you never, ever boo!” I think all of us were shaking in our little booties.
Sounds like the the student section at IU needs to have a visit from Mr. Wilhelm. I don’t care how much you paid for your tickets. Hoosiers don’t get booed on their home floor! A hard-working Hoosier deserves to be cheered by the crowd, regardless of his skill level.
So much for home court advantage. I’m gonna go join the Sean Kline fan club.
