Indiana Hoosiers gear at Fanatics.comThere’s been a spike in traffic to my site. I guess you could call it a March Madness spike? I don’t know what to call it. It should probably be something catchy because it happens every year during the NCAA tournament. This year, however, saw a much larger increase in traffic to posts about one topic in particular. It’s probably because of UCLA’s return to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2008. During the month of March, people stumble upon my blog because of this song:

Stevie Shoot a Three Pointer

Apparently I’m not the only person who remembers this song. I’m not the only one who loved this song. I’m not the only one who wants to hear the song again. Because a lot of people searched for it this March.

It used to be online. I even linked to it. But now it has disappeared. I’m sorry if you’ve stumbled upon my blog in an effort to find the song. I’ll do what I can to find another copy of it. And when I do, I’ll be sure to share it again for all the world to hear when they start searching for it again next March.

In case you had forgotten, this song generated some controversy when local stations played it on the radio.

Stevie Shoot a Three Pointer is such a great piece of local sports and radio history. I sure hope I can find a copy of it again.

Yes. I’m still singing Stevie Shoot a Three-Pointer. You should be, too. Because the Hoosiers are playing the Orangemen color Orange in the tournament again tonight. Maybe switch out the name Stevie with Jordy. And you can still keep the “Come on Bobby Knight, throw some chairs tonight” because…well…he’s still talking about throwing chairs.

There’s a lot I want to say about Knight and Indiana post-firing, but I really don’t want to get into it at this time. Because it’s game day late night. And the Hoosiers are another game closer to winning Number Six.

Let’s go, HOOSIERS!

Stevie Shoot a Three-Pointer [Flashback Friday]

After last night’s bracket-busting loss, this post might be more like pouring salt in people’s wounds, but I haven’t been able to get this song out of my head all week. And I don’t care that it screwed up my bracket. I really didn’t think my Final Four picks would happen, but the dream was fun while it lasted.

I like to think that I had a hand in getting Stevie Shoot a Three-Pointer online for the world to hear online. At the end of a post where I discussed Knight throwing the chair and how they should name the bench after him, I asked this question:

On a somewhat related note, does anyone remember a song that was played on the radio during IU’s 1987 tournament run that had the line, “Come on, Bobby Knight, throw some chairs tonight. And Stevie, shoot a three-pointer!”? I’ve looked all over for a recording of that.

Spoon replied in the comments. He had a copy. A few days later, I discovered this….

Stevie Shoot a Three Pointer

You’re welcome, Internet.

Oh. And pay no attention to those timestamps that say my conversation with Spoon happened in 2010 and this video was posted in 2008. Don’t bother me with small details like that. 😉
