Sponsoring a child can change a life forever

Sponsorship can change a child's life forever

During the time that she was under the care of Holt International, Mihret had a sponsor. Someone prayed for her, thought about her, and received updates about her. They helped provide food, shelter, and clothing for her. They supported her. They loved her from afar.

While we’ve never met the person (or people) who sponsored Mihret while she was in care, we are extremely grateful for the generosity that they poured out on our Little Girl.

It’s probably a little corny, but I can’t help but think of the line in that Ray Boltz song, Thank You:

Then another man stood before you
And said remember the time
A missionary came to your church
And his pictures made you cry
You didn’t have much money
But you gave it anyway
Jesus took the gift you gave
And that’s why I’m here today

Someone gave. And a life was changed.

So while we were volunteering at the Holt booth at Winter Jam this past weekend, we explained to Mihret how her picture was once in one of these folders and how someone helped her while she was waiting to come home with us.

After she found that out, she was excited to help spread the news of Holt’s child sponsorship program.

By the end of the night, our little child sponsorship evangelist was pretty tuckered out. But it was worth it because children’s lives are being changed forever because of these sponsorships.

Whether you work through Holt International, World Vision, Compassion, Show Hope, or any of the other life-giving sponsorship programs, thank you for what you’re doing. You’re helping to make a difference in the lives of children around the world.

Thank you.
