I’m taking up the challenge. Maybe.

There have been some changes to Life in the Fishbowl over the past week. Some are pretty significant. Others probably wouldn’t be noticed by someone who stalks visits this blog 15 times a day.

As I’ve been messing around with things, I realized that I’ve published 1,876 posts since I started blogging almost 9 years ago. This one is #1,877. That’s a lot of entries. As I was thinking about that, it hit me that 2,000 really isn’t that far off. I mean, it’s over 100 posts, but it’s not very much when compared with 1,800+. Right? So I quietly set the goal of publishing 2,000 posts by the end of the year.

But wait….that’s only 14 posts away from 2,014 published blog posts when the year 2014 begins. How cool would that be? OK. You might not think it’s that cool. But I do. So I’m gonna try to do it.

That all sounds well and good until I started doing the math…

2,014 – 1877 = 137

I need to write 137 posts between now and New Year’s Day.

137 ÷ 82 = 1.67

I would need to write and publish almost two posts per day. That’s a lot. I’ve never produced that much. I think the most I’ve done was around 35 posts in one month. I highly doubt I’ll be able to pull it off. But I think it’ll be a fun challenge to try to accomplish.

I’m telling you right now, though, that I’m probably going to need some help. I might issue some desperate pleas for some guest posts from time to time. I’ll also occasionally ask for topic ideas on the blog’s facebook page. And if you have an idea you really want me to write about, feel free to let me know.

Whenever I’ve set a goal to write a series of posts in a row in the past, I’ve learned a lot about myself during the process. I expect this marathon to be no different. Wish me luck! 🙂
