Jenny’s favorite Christmas songs (Guest Post)

Christmas Tree

Oh, dear readers of Matt’s blog, he had no idea what he got into when he asked me to do another guest post about my favorite Christmas song. I am adamant that the Christmas season does not start until the weekend right after Thanksgiving. Period. End of story. But on that Saturday, bring it on. I’ve discovered that I actually like Pandora’s Christmas station (well, except for Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You).

I have 190 Christmas songs in my iTunes account, not counting Veggie Tales Christmas music. 13 solid hours of a music, none repeating. I love Christmas music, Christian Christmas music most of all. Therefore, I had to divide my favorite into 3 categories. I can’t just have one favorite!

#1. Favorite fun song: You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch (Newsong’s version) I admit, I am a bit of a Grinch junkie. I am planning a Who Feast to eat while watching it on TV this year! (And BTW, Matt…it’s on the same album as *the song that shall not be mentioned*)

2# Favorite sentimental song: Christmas Is All In The Heart (Steven Curtis Chapman/Vince Gill). I SOB like a crazy lady whenever I hear it. As in have to pull off the road because I can’t see for all the tears. I am a sentimental sap.

It’s also a tie with Third Day’s Merry Christmas. Adoption. Holidays. Waiting. Hello, sentimental sappy tears again.

3# Jesus-y Christmas song: O Holy Night. (Newsong, Selah) Brings me to my knees every single time. Close second is Selah’s Light of the Stable.

Worst Christmas song currently played on radio: It That Shall Not Be Mentioned, AKA Christmas Shoes.

There you go, my Christmas song favorites from a Christmas song junkie!

Oh! Also another fun one is Worthy Is The Lamb/Hallelujah Chorus from the 1993 The New Young Messiah. My kids LOVE to watch me sing along with it!
