Dear Guy Who Pulled Off An Amazing Proposal…

Thank you for sharing your special day with the rest of the world. I know some guys are ticked off at you because you made all of our proposals look pretty lame in comparison.

They’re wrong.

I watched your video and I was moved. I had goosebumps. I’m man enough to admit that I even got a little bit misty-eyed. Of course, I tweeted about it, too…

I think my favorite part is  when the marching band came out and they brought out the laptops. It took an awful lot of planning and coordinating to pull this off and for that I say, “Well done!”

You also inspired me. I want my daughters to eventually marry young men who will move heaven and earth for them. I want my son to be so head over heels for the love of his life that he’ll hang the moon to show how crazy he is about her.

The thing is, they aren’t going to pick this up on their own. They’ve got to learn this from someone. The best way my son is going to learn how to shower his wife with love is by having it modeled for him. The best way my girls are going to learn that they should be treated like royalty (and not like some people treat  women) is by seeing their mom treated like a queen. And that means I need to become a better father by continually becoming better at loving my Bride. Of course, she’s easy to love. And I love her with all my heart. But that doesn’t mean I can’t do a better job of showering her with love. And this isn’t only for the kids. It’s also because…well…I want to be the best husband I can be for her.

I’m sure it wasn’t your purpose, but you’re pushing me to be a better husband. And for that, I thank you. Thank you for inspiring me. Thank you for challenging me.

And maybe some day, I’ll return the favor.
