Thanks, Coach

I could share all of the memorable quotes from this very colorful figure, and maybe I’ll do that someday. But for now, in recognition of Coach Knight’s retirement (which is effective immediately), I figured it’s appropriate to post this video. Be sure to watch that beautiful shot at the end of the video.

Now that he’s not with Tech anymore, I wonder how long before some short-sighted IU fan who hasn’t been able to turn the page the last 8 years will start making noise about how he should replace Sampson. Even if that would be a good thing, it ain’t gonna happen!! It’s time for some people to let it go. And I’m sure the number of Texas Tech fans in Indiana will drop off (and that’s a good thing, in my opinion).

Love him or hate him, Coach Knight has definitely received very strong reaction over the years. With all of that being said, he was one heck of a coach in his prime and he deserves credit for that. I’m sure it was time for him to step down, but college basketball is certainly losing one of its most memorable and colorful figures.
