The Streak is Broken

We broke a streak this year. Didn’t get to go down to the Fall Festival. One of the many exciting things about moving back to Indiana was that it put us that much closer to the Fall Festival and we didn’t have to listen to Alyson ask us how much longer we were going to be in the car every 10 minutes for an eight-plus time-span. I could just hear one of those sausage burgers calling out my name we were so close!

With everything going on last week – Christy’s school, Aiden’s basketball clinic, two concerts, etc, we realized pretty early on that the Fall Festival was going to be a bust this year. I know. I’m sure it wasn’t the same without us…

On a brighter note, Showtime decided to have one of those free preview weeks. You know – the kind of week they hope will get you addicted to the movies they show and make you rush to the phone and order the whole package once they pull the plug on you? Yeah – that kind of preview.

It’s unfortunate for them, however, that I wasn’t too impressed with the title availability. We already get the Encore networks as part of our package, and they provide enough flicks to distract me already. I don’t need to pay even more money for more movies I don’t need to be watching.

That being said, I did get to watch two different movies that I’d highly recommend. My Date with Drew, and Akeelah and the Bee. Akeelah was a little predictable, but it’s one of those ‘feel-good’ kind of movies that’s not overly-manipulative.

Even more fun was the My Date with Drew documentary. Check out the site. They do a much better job of explaining it than I could.

So, thanks Showtime for easing a little bit of my sadness. I’m still not gonna give you money, though.
