Field Day

Friday was Field Day at the kids’ school.  I got to spend most of the day at the school with the kids, which was a pretty cool thing.  I remember Field Day at our school (I still swear it was ‘Health Day’ – can anyone confirm or deny this for me?) was a big deal, as it is at every school.  The highlight was always the water balloon toss for the 5th graders in front of the whole school.  It was pretty cool.

There was no balloon toss this time.  It’s a good thing, too, since it was pretty chilly all day Friday.  The upper elevations were under a frost warning…yes, I said frost…in May.  Weather is so  unpredictable here sometimes.

It was so cold that some teachers decided totake a break from the outdoor games and watch a movie in their classroom.  Kind of an extended lunch.  That was OK with me and Christy.  That meant we could go eat lunch at Firehouse without really missing any of the festivities. Although Ridgewood is still my favorite barbecue in the region, Firehouse is pretty good.  Good barbecue in addition to watching the kids having a blast…let’s just say that Field Day was a huge success!

Aiden in the football relay.  Nice jacket!  Yes, it’s a cream and crimson Hoosiers jacket.  What else would you expect?

They had a really cool obstacle course!

Parachute fun.
