Amazing Grace

I don’t normally promote “Christian” movies that I haven’t seen. That’s because, to be honest, most of them are just plain awful. They’re either poorly done or they try to marry a political agenda with church, or the pull a bait-and-switch – trying to literally scare hell out of you. Rather than “impact Hollywood for Christ,” in reality they tend to fall on their faces, bringing some churches along with them.

That being said, I have heard nothing but good things about the following movie. The message is as important today as it was 200 years ago. In spite of what we may think, the US Civil War did not end slavery around the world. Hopefully, this film will serve as an inspiration for us to rise up and work towards an end to the evil that continues to haunt humanity. Street Signs has some very valuable thoughts here on this very topic and the movie. It’s much easier for me to just direct you there than for me to re-post it here.

This weekend, let’s all go to the movies. A decent opening weekend will encourage theaters to keep it around for a while. Maybe someone’s eyes will be opened and a movement will begin. God knows the world needs such a movement.
